DVD burning

Due to massive problems encountered with the college computers encore cs3 is not working and crashes on every computer loading up. I tryed running encore at home but no luck due to encore not linking with Photoshop. But this error comes up. I had to put the file and burn it to the disc using windows without the menu.




This is the menu i made with Photoshop along with a working highlight for the words that cuts to the movie.  
I also had a sound track imported which was Son of Flynn by Daft Punk.

So you have to go on to the file and watch it on Quicktime.

Editing

The first thing I did for my project file for editing is create a 720p 25 frames per second project. This is a higher resolution for better quality efficiency.  I saved it to my external hard drive that I own in my premiere folder. the project is now ready to be started.
Firstly I imported all my .MOV files and grouped them together in premiere folders to keep me organised.

I followed the story board as much as possible but sadly we did not film the scene of Zach's parents talking about video gaming and their opinions.  This is because we did not have enough time to go to his house and also his parents were unavailable at the times we needed them. This means that we did not have all the range of opinions that we wanted.  Zach could have taken a camera home and done it himself but he wanted another team member to accompany him.

I used many video effect transitions in my edit to make things flow. I used many different transitions such as stretch, fade to black and swing etc. I used split screen for the first time on a college project and I used it for vox pops interviewingas a transition.

I used key frames images and audio fluently throughout this project by using other programmes such as photoshop, paint and sound recorder.

Keyframes are edited in by placing and moving within effect sliders, you can use many to create animation which will demonstrate interest to the audience.

Music tracks were used to blank out silent parts of the documentary and this generates excitement inbetween talking in clips.

Filming

Today after pre-production was finished, filming is the next step after these many weeks.

I had to use sufficient enthusiasm for Zach to come and film at my house for the rest of our footage. I also organised for another friend to help us out due to Sam’s absence as he had to work. Filming was disorganised . We managed to film footage playing the games and then also footage of our introduction and factual information clips. Moreover, interviewing of my parents which was sufficient because of their opinions compared to a younger audience’s opinion.

We also filmed in college and interviewed some fellow students to see what their opinion of gaming was to help the legitimacy of our project. We also found out information on what types  of games people played and at what age they first started to play.

For our social action filming we organised a story board I created that we would show the process of EMA such as the filling in the form and giving it in and therefore receiving the money. We filmed in the college foyer where the EMA box is located.

Pre-Production

We have spent the last few weeks completing production paperwork for our 2 documentaries.
This has envolved listing and Developing our ideas, developing scripts and logistical sections and research and planning tasks.

For pre -production there has been a lot of pressure put upon us due to the slow working of the group and some absences , also the work allocation was late being set up.We have to go to the lecturer and show that we have done the work so we can go and use the college camera equipment.
Last minute bookings will have to be made for the equipment due to lack of time and footage

Skills profile

Adobe Soundbooth, i sometimes use for sound editing. this software is only for Professional Sound Editing and provides a big range of sound modifying capabilities.

• Such as sound mixing
• Sound volume changing (dB's)
• Also Exporting at different kilo hurt levels and bit rate.
• Comparing audio tracks

This is Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 + 5, 6 i have used this software package multiple times for different projects Ive done like music videos and trailers. This is a powerful Professional cutting software in comparison to Apple's Final Cut Pro. we are going to be using this software for this project for editing processes
 I am hoping to get a more fluent with transitions and sound mixing with sound effects.
I know how to add video effects and tranitions moreover video markers.

Factual programme and Social action

For this new project i will be creating a documentary factual programme, this is a filming of real life situations. first as usaul we will habve to do intial and factual research into the project. I will look at codes and conventions also styles and aspects.

For this project i will need to create two final outcomes which are

• The Social Action is going to be a documentary about identifying E.M.A. (Education Maintainence Allowence) The video Which will include the facts and peoples opinions.

• The Factual programme is a documentary about Video Gaming and identifying the affects and defects that this craze and pass time has on people. The video will include the audience opinions and favourites.

Pitching

I created a pitch in prezi becuase it is more modern and less tedious than powerpoint which was fast moving and information with and rotation with pictures that were in the mass.

Simons illustrator lesson

We created many titles that were colourful and extravigant and this helped us devolop are creativity in text creating graphic design.
We had never used illustrator and we found out it only produces vector graphic imaging which is a pixeline that is straight in stead of bumpy and squares.

Modifing title for magazine

 This is my magazine title before and then simon commented that i change it so the 'the' is the same size as the 'P' to make it look more clever and that ive pondered over the ideas.

But this one looked a bit untidy so i have decided to keep the first version.

Anylising the brief

We have now been given the brief, for ASH Publishing, asking for a cover, contents page and two page content spread for a new student newspaper, the name and design style of which we can come up with ourselves.

I have to create a front page and a double page spread along with a contents page.

Simon investigated layout and typograpghy

In simon's lesson we spent time look at fonts and point of views of titles and what suits what were going to create. This is very important for product placemant, the titles can go in many places and be made in different colours and styles.

DVD for adverts

I created a dvd that had a menu shjowing me and Josh Quintas's video versions. Burning on my own dvd blank using encore. and i put it in my group folder.

This a 12 minute process of dranscoding and writing,  I used a 4.7GB, 16x DVD-R, which would meet the requiremtns for our more "amateurish" menus.

Editing

Now with both our sets of footage, I have edited most of my final advert.

Using Premiere Pro, you can import images, rushes and audio and cut, compile and add effects to them. This makes it a superb professional piece of software with extensive options for all of the mentioned. After quickly picking up the fair simple user interface, it became important to know your way around the workspace. 


I learnt how to use the cutting markers to my advange which helps me a great deal.

Position and rotation keyframes have helped to to create the pack shot where the writing moves with the can. This also has a swish sound efffect with the movement.

 

Filming

In the end because all cameras were lent out so I had to use my HD camera and tripod instead to film 2 parts of the advert myself; the tapping of a pencil and a desk chair going down  and I converted these files into a QuickTime format that would be compatible with the system and gave them to the group.

Then it got later in the deadline and their were still no cameras for borrowing so are whole group and me filmed on my camera and tripod and then I converted the files and gave them over.

Josh on his camera filmed a hose spraying and gave the file to the group. 


We started filming with my camera in the lecture theater and Katherine should do the tapping of the pencil for the opening shot. Then we moved to the fountain where i suggested josh what to act using my tripod as a support for the camera.

Conversion

With filming complete (post coming soon) before editing could begin, Using AVS Video Converter we needed to change the orginal MPEG and quicktime files from the camera. But i converted them all to a QuickTime H.264 Format from my memory stick. as for the footage on my camera i put on my memory stick along with the other footage.

The files are now on a portable hardrive ready to be distributed to the other group members. I have now moved onto Premiere I haved started editing. (using the skills shown in the skills profile)

Pre production

I struggled with Pre-production due to the rate of slowness and continuity of work i can  achieve. josh has been organizing the group well. But pre production work has now been completed and is up to scratch and ready for us to go ask for camera's by compiling our information and explaining to the lecturer about our intentions.

In the next 5 weeks i will be creating Pre production, production, post production for an advertisment in groups. This is my Skills profile containing all the skills i already have that will help me.

I use Sony Vegas to edit all my sound mainly, this is productive program for the job, because originally the software was only used for sound thats why its so usefull. I use this program to combine my sound track and fade down and fade on. I do not use this product for video editing because i havent needed to.

This is Final Cut Pro 7 is the same as Adobe Premiere but the performance is better with all HD files because itys designed for Mac rather than Windows. I know the basics of this program like cutting and importing also transitions.

IMovie this is a software that comes free with Apple formats that is a basic cutting movie editing software similar to Windows Movie Maker i have not used this program very fleuently but i no how to the layout and Adobe Premiere Elements 7 which is a besic version of premiere pro for slightly less proffessional users.

I used encore in the last project for creating a dvd menu, refer back to the previous posts on encore earlier in the blog.

I use After effects for all my major major effects that i create at home.
